Children's Picture Book Day

Children's Picture Book Day

April 2, 2026

Hello Reader,

It's Children's Picture Book Day! To celebrate, I'm recommending a couple of picture books that my little one absolutely loves!

We recently picked these books up at one of my favorite independent bookstores, Dorothy June's in Foley, AL. My youngest sat in the floor and read Gaston, a book about a bulldog who's adopted by a family of poodles. Obviously, the bulldog feels a little left out and what follows is a beautiful story about fitting in and staying true to yourself.

The pictures are adorable, and the fact that it starred a bulldog and my brother owns a bulldog made it instantly relatable to my children. It was so good that we had to buy the sequel:

The point to today's newsletter is to remind us all how important reading is to young minds. It helps young children deal with issues they can't yet verbalize--like fitting in or feeling different. If you have a little one in your life, please consider these books by Kelly Dipucchio and Christian Robinson, as they are a hit with mine!

And in case you needed evidence of the obsession, here is an image of my little one on the beach, reading instead of running around screaming as per usual:
