The Alabama Writing Workshop

The Alabama Writing Workshop

March 26, 2026

Hello Reader,

The Alabama Writing Workshop is tomorrow, and I'm so thrilled and honored to be facilitating this year!

Way back in 2022, when owners Brian and Chuck were still being forced to do most of their conferences online, I met my first agent at this very conference. I pitched and got an offer within a month. I was so excited that I reached out to Brian Klems, who invited me to come back to the Alabama Workshop (which was now being held in-person) to present and volunteer. Since then, I've been volunteering every time this crew came through Alabama.

Both Brian and Chuck are amazing to work with, and they actually care about helping launch the careers of their conference attendees. When that agent didn't work out, I went back to these conferences. I got my first offer of representation from an agent there.

Here's the thing, if you live in the states, this conference travels all over, and it is still the most affordable conference I've ever been to. You can learn more about publishing, find out what agents and publishers look for in those first pages, and maybe even land an agent of your own. Here's a link to the schedule of conferences if your interested: https://www.writingdayworkshops.com/event-locations--dates.html

If you plan to attend, please respond to this email and let me know! I'd love to send you some tips and words of encouragement.
